The BBC is launching an exciting filmmaking project called 'Britain in a Day', aiming to capture an authentic and broad-reaching snap shop of Britain.
The idea is that on the 12th November 2011 the BBC wants to encourage as many people as possible to film small parts of their day and upload the clip to YouTube. The uploaded clips will then be viewed and a huge selection of them will be used in a 90 min documentary that will be broadcast on BBC2 in May 2012.
You can use anything from your phone, digital camera or home camcorder and don't need any experience of filmmaking or uploading to You Tube. The FREE workshop will give you all the information you need to help you join in. It will cover the story of Britain in a Day, storytelling and filmmaking tips, including filming on mobile phones and technical requirements for uploading material to YouTube. The Herbert will also help you to upload your film to YouTube if you do not have access to the internet.
The BBC is working with The Herbert to help as many people as possible to get involved so the documentary truly reflects the diversity of Britain. If you, your family or the group you work with want to join in please come along to the workshop.

The project is based on Life In a Day produced by Ridley Scott made entirely of clips uploaded to YouTube. 80,000 people from around the world submitted short clips of their day. Similarly 'Britain in a Day' aims to capture an authentic and broad-reaching snap shop of Britain. We want to encourage as many people as possible to upload a clip that sums up a typical day in their life. The uploaded clips will then be viewed and a huge selection of them will be used in a 90 min documentary that will be broadcast on BBC2 in May 2012. In the run up to Olympic fever, the film aims to celebrate the uniqueness of Britain and our Nations. The project is a collaboration between BBC Learning, Scott Free Productions (Ridley Scott) and YouTube.
