Information sharing protocol

The Coventry Information Sharing Protocol (known as CISP) was signed in July 2004.

It outlines what all of us in the partnership should do if we are asked to share any information about any of the children or young people we work with.

The CISP document is designed to offer people who work in the partnership support in the sometimes tricky business of sharing information.

In organisations that have signed the CISP there will be someone specific who is trained to use it, they are called a Designated Officer. This person will be someone who has responsibility for an organisation's information sharing policies and procedures. Sometimes they are called the Data Protection Officer or Information Governance Manager. They need to understand all of the detail of information sharing.

For most other people who want to know more about how things work there are two leaflets available to download called "Basic Guide" and "Risk of Harm Disclosure Checklist" that aim to explain things in easy to understand terms.

On this page we also have placed some other information to download that you may find useful, as well as the full version of the protocol.
