There are a number of local services that can provide support for young people about sexual health issues.
School nurses (external website) can provide initial advice and guidance and can refer young people to other services.
Coventry One Stop Shop (external website) is a free service for young people aged 13-25. It offers a range of services including information and advice on sexual health issues such as contraception, condoms, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing and counselling.
Clinic in a box (external website) is a nurse led outreach service for young people aged 11-19 which offers information and advice on a range of issues including relationships, Chlamydia Screening, condoms, emergency contraception and sexual health.
The ‘asc’ (action support on pregnancy in Coventry) service is offered by some pharmacies. It provides FREE emergency contraception and pregnancy testing to young women who are 18 and under who are in full time education or on benefits. The Sexual Health & Reproductive Care Service (SHARC) (external website) offers advice and support on contraception, condoms, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, Chlamydia Screening and sexual health advice.There is a young persons clinic held every Monday evening.
In addition bpas (British Pregnancy Advisory Service) offers advice and support about contraception, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, pregnancy counselling and terminations. For more information call the Actionline 08457 304030.
Coventry Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre (CRASAC) (external website) offers an information, counselling and support services for girls and women who have been sexually assaulted, suffered child abuse or raped. There is a telephone helpline and an assessment service to help identify appropriate help and support.
The Walk-in Centre (WIC) based at Coventry & Warwickshire Hospital Site Stoney Stanton Road, Coventry (024 7624 6789) provides emergency contraception and condoms. This is open from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week.
