Mental health

 

The government’s National Service Framework for Children,Young People and Maternity Services: (2004) includes specific objectives for the Mental Health and Psychological Well-being of Children and Young People (Standard 9)(external website).

The Coventry Teaching Primary Care Trust has a specialist service called the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service. This is for young people who experience difficulties with their mental health. The service includes support for staff  who are the first point of contact for young people. It also helps  young people directly through assessment and  treatment.

The SEN and Inclusion Support Services (external website) include the following services for children and young people  

The Pre-School Education Support Service for children aged 0–5 years
The Learning and Behaviour Support Service (Primary) 5-11years
The Learning and Behaviour Support Service (Secondary)11-18 years
The Educational Psychology Service for children and young people aged 0 – 18 years.  

The Vibes project (external website) is part of Coventry Mind and provides specialist mental health information, education and support services for children and young people.

The (DfES) Children and Young People's Mental Health team (external website) works with the Department of Health to take forward new developments in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) nationally.
