Joint Area Review

The JAR is a joint inspection of all children's services within a local area undertaken by a team of inspectors from OFSTED, Commission for Social Care Inspection, Healthcare Commission, Adult Learning Inspectorate and Audit Commission.

Coventry was inspected under these new arrangements in March 2006. At the same time, the Council was subject to a corporate assessment (CA) which is linked to the JAR.
We now have the results of the inspection - and are delighted to share them with you - the full report and brochure are available to download on the right of this page - with a brief summary of the results below.

The Joint Area Review, which found that "outcomes for children and young people in Coventry are good." Inspectors said: "There is a strong tradition of partnership working in Coventry and this is effective in providing good and continually improving services for the children and young people of the city." The inspection also rated the city's services for children and young people in a number of areas:

Being healthy – we are rated good

Staying safe – we are rated good

Enjoying and achieving – we are rated good

Making a positive contribution – we are rated outstanding

Achieving economic well-being – we are rated good

 Coventry Youth Service was also rated as a "good" service providing good value for money.
